Before you she was strong

Before you she knew her value

She believed in her insight and intellect

And she loved with all her heart

But bit by bit you broke her down

Her strength was your challenge

Through lies, betrayal and abuse

She became a mere shell of the woman she was

You imprisoned her in a gilded cage

For your amusement and control

But the fire within hadn't died

One day a small ember sparked

She saw glimpses of the girl she once was

And found the courage to break the chains of fear

She took her first steps toward freedom

With each step the fire growing

She began to stretch her wings

Remembering who she was before you

And that was enough

She left you....to find herself

Now she is fierce and ready to live again

So no, you didn't break her

The cracks you left have only made her shine brighter
